Final paper # 3

The typical middle school student (at the present time), emotional, unsure (of themself and their path in life), little to no self-courage, immature, cocky, rebellious, and full of the thought that they know everything. Picture this a punk looking kid with faded jeans, and a red hoodie under a black jacket that looks like fake leather. The long black hair that has a neon color stripe on the right bang, with a choking chemical cloud of spray-on axe deodorant. A nose ring on his left nostril underneath eyes filled with emotional hatred and sadness in opposite pupils. While placing a stink bomb under the teacher’s rolling chair filled with yin over whelming the yang, chaos over peace, bad over good. This is the typical middle school student with no common sense, completely forgetting the there is a choice between good and bad when having to think about using drugs, hurting friends, disrespecting elders. In my research I found that an interesting percent of middle school students who refuse to use common sense, use common sense and have little to no common sense.
When you look at a middle school student you see a very similar stereotype as seen in the documentary/movie “chalk”. We see the things they do that can make someone flinch because of how bad it sounds, feels, looks, and sometimes smell. Just think of how much it would help if we were to reeducate them or educate them about common sense/knowledge through a class. Indefinitely we see in more scenarios middle school students choosing bad choices making horrible decisions when the right/good choice is almost hitting them in the head saying “This is your conscious here……… LISTEN TO ME YOU STUBORN HUMAN!” they obviously need a refresher on how to be a better more sophisticated, stand up person. Think about how the society in schools and the community would change if one age group did a better job at being the better at decision making.
We see the middle school age group making the worst decisions above any other age group. Some may believe that the best mistakes that can be learned from come from experience. But do they have to learn from experience when a good classroom lesson could suffice. Many people would just say that it’s just the kids being young and immature, sure some of them are but there has to be a line that should not be crossed for example using drugs the choice to use or not use. The easy choices which would make the world better in many ways. Bell hooks talks about “Critical thinking” and how critical thinking is a crucial to the development of thinking for one’s self.  Even adults can seem like they have no common knowledge of anything that is why we should start at a young age and teach the children so they don’t become some drunken jobless junkie’s.
We see it every day, younger and younger kids having jail time for breaking the law which were set up for people much older than them.  Now we sort of expect things like that to happen more often and more frequently because of the kids learning from their experiences or we blame it on are schools for not teaching them the right things. It doesn’t seem right for a kid to go to jail to learn from experience or get seriously injured because they tried to attempt a stupid stunt of sort  for example the video “black in black” touch up on that by saying that the united states is the leading in confidence. Reasoning to the bad choices may be the ignorance of the kids them not actually truly knowing the difference between bad and good which is not as strange as it sounds. Many parents teach their kids what they believe is right that might be completely the opposite so why not reteaching them in school so that we know at lest they know.
How do we help these kids? I believe by adding a class involving the teaching of common sense/ common knowledge will help kids understand what they’re doing is wrong and why what they’re doing is wrong. The class won’t even have to be very hard it just has to be enough to teach the basic knowledge of good and bad, and right from wrong. They could even go over the actual father of common knowledge Aristotle. Aristotle has many great examples which the classes could be based upon and used in the lessons to also give a small history lesson of sorts. The class wouldn’t just be in the age group of the middle school though. If it were to work then it would be beneficial to even go all the way through school K-12 common sense/knowledge class.
In the end we need to educate are children to be better, to do better, and to think better. To show them right from wrong, and to make choices which will benefit them in the future to come for their long path ways in life.so why don’t we make this class a reality and protect the future by first protecting the paths of the children who will be running the world in the next couple of decades. Common sense does not only benefit the children remember if someone knows better they will most likely show others how to better as well. One kind deed seen by many can have an effect which can start a chain of events that in the end would result in whole different world.

What I believe makes good teaching

What I think makes good teaching is a way that helps kids grow and flourish in there creativity. something that helps them use creativity in there own way and not for other things that we want to focus there own creativity on. But in a way I do believe there also needs to be a sense of organization along with it. I'm no talking about discipline, I'm talking about order in the sense of creative order which has nothing to do with randomness which also should be shown. We have to show them to be original and not follow a line of others. We use to be have the best schools in the world which points people to discipline and order which we don't have anymore. But the thing that people forget is that South Korea and Finland which are the leading nations in the educational field use discipline in most of there teaching as well. This to a degree is a problem, because it destroys creativity when order and discipline flourish there is a huge decline in creativity. Students are not able to express themselves in their own form therefor destroying creativity. So what i am stating is that good teaching has to be able to balance organization, discipline, and creativity in a way which makes them all even.

Group Blog for top two pick 11.26.13

Top Two Pick of readings 11.26.13

We all agree that our number 1 choice is Jerry Large's "Gift of Grit, curiosity help kids Succeed". Truly in the real world children need confidence and character to actually become their own person and make their own decisions which puts them on their own path. They need "perseverance and passion for long-term goals".  We agree with Tough who says, "If you want success, build character and the rest will follow".

Our number 2 choice is bell hooks "Teaching Critical Thinking: Practical Wisdom".  We came to the conclusion that critical thinking is an important thing for children to learn as it helps them to make their own decisions and opinions about important matters in life. It helps children to look into the details and pull out the images and ideas to sort through choices in life. We should be like the children who "come into the world of wonder and language consumed with a desire for knowledge" who become "relentless interrogators".

At first, we didn't all agree with #2.  But after much discussion we concluded that "Teaching Critical Thinking" was a more important piece than Barry Boyce "A Real Education". Barry Boyce talked about being "mindful of others", where we decided that "Critical Thinking" was a more valuable asset in real world situations. We attribute this to critical thinking is more educational than being mindful of others, but being mindful is a subset of critical thinking.

Chalk notes

Man talks about his school life which starts the introduction of the movie. Teacher asks what to your mind when I say history, long silence and then he says that’s why where here. Then a long movie intro similar to the office but with school. Teachers go over first day of class. The teachers don’t seems to be very encouraging to the students they joke in a way which is rude and immature. The movie comes off as being like the TV-show office but is involved with school. The teachers talk about themselves and how they think about the year but nothing about the kids.  The assistant tries to break up a fight outside but she doesn’t handle it very well. None of the teachers seem to be handling things very well with talking to the children. They talk about focusing on the student and nothing even similar to that happens. The teachers are so dysfunctional and they don’t even work as a team, they yell and go against each other in an unhealthy way. One of the history teachers talks about his improvements that he made to his class to help the children learn more but it doesn’t look or sound any different. The group of teachers talk about being role models what a joke. The way the teachers act is so immature they almost act like their students heck they do. They talk inappropriately about their students outside of class. Again the teachers argue and ramble at each other it is just sad.one of the teachers gets mad and throws a chair. At the end of the year there seems to be a better structure than the start but there is still a lot of immaturity coming from the teachers.

Formal Paper #2

Both are good teachers with great teaching skills but hey are different in the way they teach, communicate with their students, and above all act. Mr. Escalante from the movie “Stand and deliver” and Mr. Keating from “Dead poets society” whom are close to prime subjects for this comparison. They have many similarities but also a few differences which defiantly shows who is the better teacher in the sense of good teaching. They both have their own ways of talking to their students outside of class and inside of the classrooms, which shows their personalities and their teaching methods in a different light. There are also some of the ways they encouraged the students to work on their class and homework. Their attitudes are also another aspect that is involved with their teaching and interaction with the students such as if they get aggravated or angry with the students in anyway. Also the ways they teach by invoking any type of emotion onto the student in order to create a scenario in which the students would start to think clearer because of these emotions. How the students were affected due to the teaching and the communication between the students is another important view that I will be compared between the teachers. Both teachers have a good teaching habits but the little things they do affect the students in some way may it be large or small. Both teaches have a dry sense of humor which the students seem to enjoy, but I question if some of the jokes they make are really suitable for in a school environment and if they are truly necessary in the first place. The smallest of details put together is what makes something great such as the little remarks or statements that the teachers make which help the students develop the understanding of the lessons.
I could speak of the bad teaching of Mr. Escalante but there wouldn’t be that much to talk of but truly Mr. Escalante has always had good intentions when working with his students but in some circumstances he gets so caught up in the his own expectations of his students because he values them so high that he believes that the students already understand the concept of the lesson that he is teaching. Mr. Escalante tries to involve himself within his students life’s to create a bond of sorts so that the children understand him more in, other words he tries to create a relationship between him and his students which is similar to the relationship of a family in which he would uses to create an environment of understanding as of a family. It is as if he brings his students to his level which is the opposite of Mr. Keating that I will go over later in the section explaining Mr. Keating’s teachings. However while Mr. Escalante is creating this environment he fails to remember that families also has their disagreements which brings him to the brink of a minor heart attack after an argument between him and the students; which was unclear because the students had all gotten the same answer to a math question which was never corrected if it was truly an incorrect answer. But in some instances he truly knows what is right for his students because he has good intentions for them. An example being that he went to the two investigators in order to find out why his students had thought to have been cheating on a test which they had passed following the correct instructions. Mr. Escalante also uses some dry humor which was not really appropriate to invoke some emotion of happiness which helped the students remember the materials better. Considering these things Mr. Escalante is a good teacher who believes in his students and but he has a few bad habits.
Mr. Keating is very different in many ways compared to Mr. Escalante in the way they think for their student but what they believe is right for their students is all that different. They both want their students to grow and prosper into people unlike any other; to blossom into prime examples of life in the making, in other words they want their students to be the best. The way Mr. Keating helps himself and his students understand each other by going down to level of maturity and humor and it seems that he can handle it well without doing any bad teaching in the process. There is one instance where others would disagree with me on that note where Mr. Keating puts one of his students in front of his classmates invoking pressure upon the student but this also helped the student understand the lessons better and even give him inspiration to look into the details instead of looking at them. The school that Mr. Keating teaches in was once an institute in which he took classes in so he knows of the discipline which is used within its walls. He uses an appropriate humor with the students which is similar to Mr. Escalante but Mr. Keating seems to avoid any inappropriate humor so he doesn’t get himself into trouble. Even though it may seem as if Mr. Keating gets out of hand he still maintains a good line of respect between his students and himself which he started by saying “Oh captain, My captain” which he is referred to throughout the story. Mr. Keating was so inspirational to the children the he put them in a world none like any other, a world in which the discipline which was lesser than what the real world had; a world full of creativity which had no limits.
In the end it seems as if Mr. Keating is the Better Teacher than Mr. Escalante But there are a lot of differences in time and place, where Mr. Keating was in the 1950’s in an academy somewhere in the east coast, and Mr. Escalante a teacher in Downtown L.A. in the 1980’s. These differences do contribute to both teachers teachings but have little to do with if they were good or bad. But in some ways Mr. Escalante is better than Mr. Keating making them both great at what they do. Mr. Escalante has a way of involving himself in his student’s lives where Mr. Keating couldn’t, and Mr. Keating inspires his students in a way in which Mr. Escalante didn’t. Even though they both had something that the other didn’t, they both changed their students’ lives in such a way that made these children ready for the adult world. These Teachers impacted upon these kids nailing the lesson taught into their heads so that they could use them in the future. Both Mr. Keating and Mr. Escalante are talented at what they do and they do it beautifully.

Formal paper #2 draft

The two Teachers that I will be comparing are Mr. Escalante from stand and deliver and Mr. Kipling from dead poet’s society. The largest and the most important thing that both of the Teachers had was belief in their students. In a sense they knew that their students could aspire the greatness within to pass any challenge or feet. They both encouraged their students to do their best and be themselves to a logical and acceptable degree. These two teachers are great examples of good teaching along with some miniscule pieces of bad teaching moments. But in the end they but have what it takes to be good teaching in the educational society. It will be a close call to see which one is the better teacher in some ways but in the end there is a good difference between which is the best. Both teachers have fought to be great but I have to a say in the long run the winner is Mr. Keenly with his encouraging and non-violent/ yelling teaching

dead poet society: good teaching

In some instances we see some small forms of bad teaching such as Mr. Keating singling out Todd Anderson and saying “Don’t you think that I know that this assignment scares the hell out of you”. The next scene shows a form of good teaching in which Mr. Keating again points out Mr. Anderson and taunts him in a way to help him grasp the idea of true poetry. In the same scene he also pressures him in front of the class to help him think in a way of poetry, such as detailing the picture of a sweaty-toothed madman. In this way he is using pressure from being in front of the class in order to bring Todd to the path of poetic enlightenment. So far in this half of the movie we only see small slivers of bad teachings from Mr. Keating but out of all of the slivers that we have seen this scene showing good teaching out ways a them all.

Stand and deliver part two details

The other teachers laugh as Mr. Escalante asks to teach calculus. He speaks of using an advanced placement test for those who would be able to take the class. The weather seems to have changed so the class is move to a room that was supposed to be air-conditioned. Mr. Escalante hands out the placement test. He talks about the class being on different days.  One of the students walks out in the middle of class and Mr. Escalante makes fun of her. He follows her down the hall way and apologizes. He tries to teach the kids but he just expects them to do better without listening to them. He insults the kids for getting all of the wrong. After his mild heart attack he still goes to class to teach the kids. One of the methods he uses involves the kids lining up against the wall and answering calculus problems. If someone gets it wrong they go to the end of the line. His car gets stolen so he has to walk home. He passes a biker a restaurant and he also passes over a bridge. He believes he made a mistake by teaching them calculus because the state believes the kids cheated on. “you are the true dreamers and dreamers can accomplish everything”.

Stand and deliver part one details

Passing over a bridge in a robin egg blue car he sees men selling apples. In front of him men in the back of a truck and to his right piñatas, graffiti. Left a muffler shop a band and a taco stand. The man enters a school which has been vandalized. He tells the woman at the counter that he is Mr. Escalante. He is supposed to tech computer science but there are no computers. So he goes into a math classroom. The kids are ruthless and disrespectful. The classroom is littered with graffiti all over the walls. As Mr. Escalante tries to teach the disrespectful kids the bell goes off early. Someone rigged the bell. The kids go back to class. The next day he tries to teach the kids percent’s with apples. Two tough looking kid’s come in late with slips. When the kids disrespect the teacher he tries to counteract them with math. Class is out and kids are fighting on an opposite side of a fence where teacher is watching. He stops one of the kids named Angel from fighting which turns out to be one of his students. He starts to talk to the kids about negative numbers. He uses confidence with some of his kids and he repeats some of his lessons to help the students keep the lessons in their heads. In a conference he says he can teach the kids more. The next day he starts the class talking about quizzes. One of the tough looking kids hat had started to fight asked the teacher for help with other kids seeing his books. He gives him three one for classroom one for locker and one for home. In class he gives another quiz which one of the students refuses to take. He put the student in a chair facing the other students while they did the quiz. Next day one of the kids are late he tells the kid to go to another class but he wants to stay so he lets the kid sit. The kid tells the teacher that he has forgotten his pencil and a girl says he can have hers because it is her last day. He goes to the girl’s family restaurant to talk to the girl’s father about her math and that she could go to college instead of working at the restaurant. The father tells them to leave. Next day the teacher is asking for the answer for a problem which none of the students can seem to find the answer. Then all of a sudden the girl from the restaurant comes into the classroom with the answer.

Notes on Ted talk video:Schools are killing creativity

We teach children for the future to live in the future, so in a sense education is the future. We squander the creativity of children or in a sense selfishly use them when we should be using those skills to better the future. School is similar to a higher monarchy we teach kids to move towards jobs that we need to be done and not what the children are better at doing. It seems like there is inflation in the work field in the way of a jobs needing a higher degree than in previous years. The educational system has mined are minds in the same way we mine precious minerals.

My Main idea of wisdom

What I tried to convey to my readers is that wisdom doesn't just have to come with age or with experience, it can come from understanding perspective. Wisdom can come from many things it is a choice to understand what comes from wisdom. There are many different views of what wisdom is, I'm not saying that this is the description its a description. Also some of the wisest people don't know they are wise.

Wisdom

                                                      Wisdom

By: Lucas Kirsch

Wisdom can be gained over a long period time or within seconds of learning something that changes the way they think and act towards others. It has been said that those with a vast wealth of knowledge are able to predict the future and upcoming events that others would never know about; I believe that through decisive thinking people can know what will happen. One thing that is always true about such power as knowledge is that there is a good ways to use it and a bad ways. The truth of the matter is no one needs to know mass amounts of information in order to become wise. In many ways I would say that wisdom is a blessing but it can be a curse, knowing things that once said can destroy the world in more ways than one is damnation in itself.

In some ways many things are connected by some sort of process and if not connected then maybe the connection is process itself meaning everything has a process; this is knowledge I learned at a young age which helped me learn.  After ages of asking my parents, relatives, people I know, and even strangers about how things work I came across the word cycle which related to how most things in life have. Insects, mammals, fish, any type of animal in general have a cycle. So I thought what else has cycles well plants, rocks, the earth, the sky, all these things have a cycle no matter how big or small but what makes cycles similar are the details within the process. I started to become more interested in the world and how things worked in a wider scale but I always kept turning to technology and its endless splendor of new worlds and its endless plains of existence. That’s what made me start thinking even further into the pool of knowledge available to me at the time. This brought me to experiences, stepping stones, adventures, and things that would need many people to accomplish but only to the will and the courage of one man to conquer the boundaries and trials that many before could not surpass. Using process I can conduct a result of many things such as how a person would most likely react to something. The reason many people as smart as this don’t show these abilities is because of two things, first is that people can always find these people and make them use their abilities for wrong doing, second and last is that even the smartest of people can be wrong.

What I believe is the most profound speech in existence spoken by none other than Teddy Roosevelt. “We have nothing to fear but fear itself” it is a speech I always remember when I am scared or unsettled. Throughout history there are quotes that have had smaller or greater impact on the world. Many quotes and phrases uttered with such wisdom are plastered across the face of time. Another quote by Aristotle “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom” I can remember the first time I heard this quote was in seventh grade looking for a copy of Benjamin Franklin’s biography when I came across a piece of work talking about Aristotle’s poetry.

I have found it is easy to offend people with even the smallest bits of information or in some words the littlest of insults; this paper may even offend some because of the way I word my sentences or the main idea/title. I try not to consider myself wiser or better than most people because they might find it offensive and have different ways of trying to make themselves feel better if they believe in some little way they are useless or under other human beings; I can tell you that anyone who believes this to be true is lying to themselves. Everyone is important I have never seen anyone that is useless or does nothing to contribute to the universe in some sort of way. It is said that everyone has their place in the existence. Each and every one of us brush upon each other’s metaphorical paths of life, influencing even the smallest of grains of sand can bring the greatest change to a human being. No one is the same, even the most minuscule changes in shape and form can define who we are.

What I have learned over the span of my small continuing life is that I will never know everything and I will never know anyone who knows everything in my life, but I know in death that I will know someone whom will teach me many a great things. Many people just might have realized that yes I believe in god and many don’t really give a care that I do, or for some this may affect my relationship with you; just remember Einstein quoted that “science without religion is an oxymoron” this does not explain what his whole idea of that quote was, being that people need a drive, a purpose. I chose to believe in Christ because of many reasons and none of them include it being a purpose in life. It is a way to live and a way to die but in both sides are beautiful things.

It seems like I have just defined pieces of wisdom so here are some things I learned from experience. I was in the middle of English class in middle school, the lesson had to deal with a 3 page essay which to some seemed like a death sentence back then. I was finished with it but there was a another kid that needed help with the piece so our teacher asked me out of everyone in the class to help him out. The thing is that I barely knew this kid so I just asked him what he thought of the piece and he told me how it was a waste of time and why he shouldn’t do it so I asked him what he thought would be a good idea for this essay. He told me he had no idea what to start with, I asked him what he disliked most and he told me the essay. So I told him to write about it, he looked at me like I was crazy then I left his table and went back to mine. He ended up getting a batter grade than I did. That is where I learned that sometimes it’s good to have help. I think this is nearly enough so I will summarize what I have said. Another experience happened within the last year was when an older gentleman was talking to me about how he had two kids of his own and when they were my age. He said his kids thought they knew everything, then he says to me that’s how you are right. I told him that I know very little compared to him and that everyone always has something new to learn no matter how young or old. He looked at me shocked and instantly stopped looking down at me as a young kid who knows nothing. He told me I know something else that he didn’t know and that I was quite wise for my age.

Wisdom can be gained through knowledge or experience but it can take a lifetime to accept the facts that are put before you. Process is a keystone to the way I think and the way many things work. My wisdom came from knowledge which is based off of experiences other have been through. Information can be a weapon if chosen to be, and even the smallest pieces of knowledge can cut through diamond. I’m christen which is another keystone of my life which affects how I act towards others. This is what I believe to be the most important thing I have ever learned and I am thanking anyone who has affected me both good and bad for the idea that wisdom is the most important thing that I have ever learned.

What I thought about Cate Hustons blog on Traveling solo being a educational narritive and a blog

Well right at the start I could tell that she was giving a list of do's and don'ts that she has used for traveling. In a sense it can be used by people who want to start traveling solo and use it to base their own ways of traveling. I can assuredly tell you that I possibly use this for if I ever go traveling solo. It gives people a nice guideline to use even if they have started traveling alone. All of the information that is used sounds like it came form experience than if she would have used information to recreate those experiences. In the end it is a nicely written piece that talks about the guidelines for traveling solo and it also includes the authors own views on traveling solo as well as some of the reasoning for why some of the guidelines work so well. Personally I didn't feel as if there wasn't enough to write about.

Wisdom - The most important thing that i have ever learned

Wisdom can be gained over a long period time or within seconds of learning something that changes the way they think and act towards other humans. It has been said that those with a vast wealth of knowledge are able to predict the future and events that others would never know of. I believe that through decisive thinking people can know what will happen and what has happen that nobody knows of. One thing that is always true about such power as knowledge is that there is a good way to use it and a bad way. The truth of the matter is no one needs to know mass amounts of information in order to become wise and wisdom doesn’t have to come with age. In many ways I would say that wisdom is a blessing but it can be a curse, knowing things that once said can destroy the world in more ways than one. This is where I believe that process/cycle comes in.

In some ways many things are connected by some sort of process and if not connected then maybe the connection is process itself meaning everything has a process. This has been my stepping stone in my ability to learn and think in ways of process. After ages of asking my parents, relatives, and people I know and even strangers about how things work I came across the word cycle which related to how most things in life have. Insects, mammals, fish, any type of animal in general have a cycle. So I thought what else has cycles well plants, rocks, the earth, the sky, all these things have a cycle no matter how big or small but what makes cycles similar are the details within the process. I started to become more interested in the world and how things worked in a wider scale but I always kept turning to technology and its endless splendor of new worlds and endless plans of existence. The reason many people as smart as this don’t show these abilities is because of two things, first is that people can always find these people and make them use their abilities for wrong doing, second and last is that even the wisest of humans can be wrong. This is a good place to talk about a few of wise statements that have been said that influenced me.

What I believe is the most profound speech in existence spoken by none other than Teddy Roosevelt. “We have nothing to fear but fear itself” is a speech I always remember when I am scared or unsettled about something. It might have just been placed in the wrong section or it might have been fate.

I have found it is easy to offend people with even the smallest bits of information or in some words the littlest of insults. This paper may even offend some because of the way I word my sentences or the main idea/title. I try not to consider myself wiser or better than most people because they might have different ways of trying to make themselves feel better if they believe in some little way they are useless or under other human beings, I can tell you that anyone who believes this to be true is lying to themselves. Each and every one of us brush upon each other’s metaphorical paths of life influencing even the smallest of grains of sand bring the greatest change to a human being. No one is the same, the most minuscule changes in shape and form can define who we are. This is where I should stop my incessant rabbling and change to the subject of true wisdom.

What I have learned over the span of my continuing life is that I will never know everything and I will never know anyone who knows everything in my life, but I know that in death that I will know someone which will teach me many a great things. Many people just might have realized that yes I believe in god and many don’t really give a care that I do, or some people this may affect my relationship with you. Wisdom can be gained through knowledge or experience but it can take a lifetime to accept the facts that are put before you. Process is a keystone to the way I think and the way things can work. My wisdom came from knowledge which is based off of experiences other have been through. Information can be a weapon if chosen to be, and even the smallest pieces of knowledge can cut through diamond. The reality that fuels me it the fact that I can affect the lives of others. I’m christen which is another keystone of my life and how I act towards others. This is what I believe to be the most important thing I have ever learned and I am thanking anyone who has affected me both good and bad for the idea that wisdom is the most important thing that I have ever learned.

Malcolm X Vs. Mike Rose

When I read them they had a quick similarity, they both showed a piece of the writer in the way of the personality of the writer. I got to understand the writer through great detail of their memories. Both pieces seem to look at society but that is where they start to differentiate from each other. Malcolm starts to learn ways of learning to communicate through writing and reading which then leads him to his nationality in society and his national history. While Mike Rose's is looking for the Social norm within the society of his school and teenage society. Both pieces show a deep experience that the authors were willing to show to the world in order to give the same feeling that they once felt long ago when they were taught or learned these lessons. When I ask myself the question which story had more impact on me it would have to be Malcolm X, he achieved many goals within the confinement of barbed wire and metal bars. He taught himself how to read and write be copying the whole dictionary, he learned about his history, including many others, and how they have been "white washed" through history. In the end Malcolm X and Mike Rose blogs are similar in a few great ways and are very different in many small ways.

Pre-writing that worked in the past

Well most of the pre-writing that I use today I mostly learned in high school some in elementary when I started learning pre-writing existed. The first type of pre-writing which didn't exactly work for me but it was the only pre-writing that I knew which was ven-diagrams. The format wasn't very friendly to me as a young writer who had no idea what an essay included or even was other than friend in Spanish. Then I learned the Z-shape format that my elementary teacher Mr. Brennan had made. The Z-shape pre-writing is a simple format which has Thought bubbles which are connected by lines in a Z shape. I used this format until I started using another format which my middle school teacher Jan taught me which had no name but consisted of a Main Idea, four supporting idea, starting, and ending sentence. From there most of the pre-writing formats that I learn from there were all mutated versions of the format that my middle school teacher had taught me. Currently I am using a mutated version that my high school teacher taught me which seems to be pretty helpful. But other pre-writing techniques that I have learned that involve writing until an idea pops out of my head which seems to help if I am in a bit of trouble in my train of thought.

Commentary on first paper assignment / formal paper

Well truly I believe that this is a very good start for the first formal paper. Personally I usually struggle at the start with these sort of papers but in the end I find a way to finish it. After I find the way to finish it there is no stopping my train of thought because I have a death grip on that idea and I am not letting go until finish the paper. After that it is all about going over the paper and editing the little things that I forgot to go over such as little grammar mistakes. Anyway I believe that questions like this help us to remember ourselves and not forget the way we use to act, feel things, what we knew back then, and what we didn't know which contributed to how we comprehended the most important thing that we have learned. The way each one of us was feeling back then still acts upon what we think of and the way we think. So going back into these memories of the past can help us to correct things that we thought of to give us the conclusion that we understood was the right back then and correct it to our own current state of mind. In other words in helps us correct the wrong doings of the past in our minds.

Processes/cycles

So far my quest to find the holy grail has failed so I started skimming through my think tank to only find small leaf sized ideas that would not bring me far enough to my goal of my final paper. But with in the pool i found a rubber duck idea that would help my thought process on my first formal paper. So at this time the most important thing I have ever learned is processes and cycles. I learned most of my knowledge of cycles when I was younger around the age of five when I started to ask all the questions that mom and dad would probably know the answers to. It started with easy questions on how plants and insects are made but inevitably I asked about how animals in general which was the most horrific thing that i had ever herd in my life of five years. I'm getting a bit off topic but i digress, the way my parents taught me how bugs and plants were made was with cycles which ended up being a huge help to me starting at the age of roughly nine or ten when i started learn more about more general things. I learn that everything has some sort of process/cycle no matter how small or big. With this knowledge I began to associate cycles and processes due to there similarities. So I was able to figure out pieces that others could not understand through the process of similarity. But the ending problem was that I was always to shy to talk about what I knew so my genius at a young age was never seen....

Applying Goats

Well a goat is a goat they can be used for milk a past time for people who have goats as pets or for production use. Some people use goats for cheese ,meat, and lawn mowers. But if you didn't know goats can grow up to two stories high and can put themselves on fire.... this is what I have for applying goats

Fall

As plain as daylight it says “Blog post: Whatever you like” the right side of my brain says “sweet a blog post where I can creative and express myself” as the left side of my brain whispers “creativity is illogical” while being bashed in the metaphorical head with a metaphorical bat made up of various math equations, facts about the world, and a rough draft of today’s work schedule. But instead of boring you with my gibberish I will talk about fall. As the bitter weather complements a gritty breeze with the strength to pull leafs of various shades of orange, yellow, and red off their branches sending them fluttering to the ground with grace. I close the door with a great thud as I am locked on my mission to enjoy the beauty that autumn brings to my doorstep. Stepping out of the protection of the makeshift windshield the house had made I feel the brisk breeze on my unprotected neck. I start to walk the path that the pine tree had shed upon. I notice the calls of various birds safe nestled away from the strong wind within the trees. Then I stop at the edge of the road looking right to the long stretch of road and then left into the trees blocking my sight of the road. When I have assured myself the road is clear I dash to the opposite side to find another path.

First english assginment

The two blogs “how I learned to program computers” by Feross Aboukhadiejeh and “how I learned to live Google free” by Joshua J. Romero are two interesting models that I can use in the development in my writing. They both have a casual style of narrative writing which the authors use to talk about themselves, the way they learned how to program computers and live Google free. Both authors talk give information to the readers on how to accomplish the same skills that the authors learned. They don’t go detail to detail explaining every course of their decisions throughout the blog; the writers show the readers a path which can be followed using steps they provide. It also seems as if one blog shows how to become more indulged with technology while the other shows how to distance one’s self from technology. I can look back on these pieces to help with my own writing of how I can teach others how I was able to learn skills that others would be able to learn as well. In the end both of these pieces of writing are good well-built example of casual writing that I could use to influence my writing in the way of teaching others how to achieve the same set of skills I write about.
